Re: Gould, Anand or Joly for PM, letter to the editor, Oct. 27

So the letter writer wants a female prime minister and then goes on to name three they think would fit the bill. What makes people think a female would do better, let alone another Liberal?

We’re constantly being told we’re racist, sexist or homophobic, yet at the same time people are basing important decisions on just that. Politically woke and DEI correctness is what got us into this mess to begin with. I don’t want a female prime minister if she’s not qualified, and not one of the three names put out there has an ounce of qualifications.

If you want to talk about having a female prime minister, then I would suggest Danielle Smith. She’s articulate, smart, level-headed and does what’s good for the people of Alberta. In the meantime, we have Pierre Poilievre, who is just as qualified, if not more so.

More than nine years of Liberal destruction of our country means that we need to get rid of Liberals altogether. What would make me happy is if they were reduced to non-party status; same with the NDP, as that party has been complicit in our downhill slide.

SPEEDING STUPIDITY

I love to read the Ontario Provincial Police reports about speeding drivers and other stupid things people get pulled over for.

There really isn’t a need for the bad behaviour of drivers. Assuming you don’t cause an accident, you’re only going to get to your destination marginally faster.

What some of these bad drivers fail to realize is that, in going the speeds they are, an accident only takes another driver switching lanes while not expecting to be overtaken so quickly.

High-velocity impacts do not end well. I’ve seen so many photos of vehicles on their sides lately; these do not happen at low speeds. Speaking of which, parking lots and residential side streets are not raceways. Kids and drivers backing out don’t stand a chance if you’re going highway speeds.

I would love to see the Sun do an article on what happens after the tickets and charges have been laid. What are some of the fines handed out? What happens to a driver’s insurance rate?
