‘Brat’ Summer? Jennifer Lopez Poses for Casual Selfie While Sharing Charli XCX Track amid Viral Trend

Jennifer Lopez is having a Brat summer!

On Monday, July 29, the Atlas star, 55, smiled for a casual selfie posted to Instagram while lounging on a chair in a cream sweater with her hair in loose waves around her shoulders.

Giving Charli XCX a shoutout, Lopez then shared the snap to her Instagram Stories, adding her fellow singer’s viral track “Apple,” as well as the lime green background which is the same color as Charli’s Brat album artwork.

Charli’s sixth studio album, which she released on June 7, has had everybody talking online, with her devoted “Angels” fanbase declaring 2024 a Brat summer.

Even Kamala Harris got involved with the trend after Charli, 31, wrote “kamala [sic] IS brat” on X (formerly known as Twitter) on July 21 after President Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. 

Shortly after the post, Harris’ official campaign account on X changed its banner to mimic the style of the viral trend. The banner reads “kamala hq” in lowercase black lettering with a lime green background.

While discussing what it means to be a “brat,” Charli said in a video shared on TikTok on July 1, “You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes. Who feels herself but then also maybe has a breakdown. But kind of like parties through it, is very honest, very blunt. A little bit volatile. Like does dumb things. But it’s brat. You’re brat. That’s brat.”

The Internet still can’t get enough of Charli’s track “Apple,” with everyone from Glen Powell to Brooke Shields taking part in the viral dance trend created by TikTok user Kelley Heyer last month.

Meanwhile, Lopez has been spending most of her summer in the Hamptons, with the actress sharing several thankful posts last week to celebrate her 55th birthday on July 24.

“I’ve been seeing all of your birthday wishes, beautiful videos, and posts all last night and this morning from all over the world. I have laughed, smiled, shed some tears,” Lopez said in a lengthy Instagram caption, which she posted alongside two images showing her celebrating her special day.

“I really do have the best, most amazing fans in the world. I could never express how moved I am or how incredibly blessed I feel to have all of you be a part of my life. Thank you sooooo very much. 🤍🙏🏼,” she added.
