Buzz, Woody, Jessie and all their friends are coming back for another adventure.

After Disney first teased another “Toy Story” sequel in February 2023, the company is finally sharing more details about the fifth installment in the iconic film series.

Ready to reunite with the funniest toys around? Here’s everything we know about “Toy Story 5.”

When does ‘Toy Story 5’ come out?

Fans will have to wait a couple years to catch up with their favorite characters. Per Pixar’s official Instagram account, the fifth movie will hit theaters in summer 2026.

What will ‘Toy Story 5’ be about?

Toys have evolved a lot over time and the latest “Toy Story” film will take that into account.

In a video shared by Variety, filmmaker Andrew Stanton shed some light on the movie’s plot.

“With ‘Toy Story 5,’ the toys’ jobs get exponentially harder when our toy crew goes head to head with what kids are obsessed with today: electronics,” he said in front of a large crowd at the D23 Expo event Aug. 9.

Laughter ensued as Stanton continued, saying, “None of you are holding up toys. You’re all holding up phones, let’s be real.”

Which characters are returning for the sequel?

At the very least, we can expect to see three fan favorites once again. In its Instagram post, Disney confirmed that Woody, Buzz and Jessie will return for the upcoming sequel. And it looks like their friends will be making a comeback as well.

“Get excited for their next chapter as Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang all return for #ToyStory5, coming to theaters Summer 2026!” the post reads.

The photo included in the post also featured beloved characters Rex, Hamm, Slinky Dog, Bullseye and Forky.

Which actors are returning for the film?

So far, an IMDB page for “Toy Story 5” only lists Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) and Blake Clark (Slinky Dog) as stars of the film.

Allen previously appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and spoke about the potential of a fifth film.

“Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on. He actually said it was going to happen,” he said. “They have reached out to Tom (Hanks, who plays Woody) and I to reprise the roles. They’re not saying anything about it…You wonder if four (films) was too many. Is five going to be too much?”

Allen went on explaining that he’s optimistic about the project.

“According to the scuttlebutt, the writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better (films) and he said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ It could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.”
