Al Pacino is opening up about what it’s like for him to be a dad in his eighties.

The legendary “Godfather” trilogy star, 84, reveals in his new book, “Sonny Boy: A Memoir,” out now, that his 16-month-old son, Roman, has inspired him to reflect on the nature of life.

“I look at this little baby, my son Roman, who has recently come into my life, and I say, wow, look at you. It just gives me a chuckle every time I look at him,” writes Pacino.

“When he was three or four weeks old, I would think, what does he know about anything? There he is, sitting there. Nobody’s touched him, in the way of influencing him. He’s just there. So he’s got everything going for him. He’s like a little Buddha,” he added.

Pacino, who welcomed Roman with his now ex-girlfriend Noor Alfallah in June 2023, detailed how moved he became during one visit with his chatty baby son, who was then just four-months-old.

“Now this little baby is talking, really going at it. I couldn’t believe how much he was talking. Not saying a word, just baby babble, but talking like he really wanted to say something.

“I thought, he’s trying to reach me. He’s talking to me, and he’s telling me where he came from,” wrote Pacino. “He’s saying to me, ‘Dad, there’s a place I’ve been and it’s great. It’s a place you’re going to go to soon and you’ll see how great it is. I can’t talk but I just want to get it out. Because soon I’ll learn how to speak words and I won’t remember anymore.'”

The never-married Oscar winner also shares a daughter, movie director Julie Pacino, with his acting coach ex Jan Tarrant, and 23-year-old twins Olivia Pacino and Anton James Pacino with ex Beverly DeAngelo.

Pacino has previously said it was important for him to have a relationship with all of his kids after his own father left his family when he was a child.

“I consciously knew that I didn’t want to be like my dad,” he told The New Yorker in September 2014. “I wanted to be there. I have three children. I’m responsible to them. I’m a part of their life. When I’m not, it’s upsetting to me and to them. So that’s part of the gestalt. And I get a lot from it. It takes you out of yourself.”
