DOESN’T CARE ABOUT CANADIANS

Re: Airplane food cost more than $220K on Trudeau’s Indo-Pacific trip, online, June 18

Justin Trudeau was basically saying “f— you” to tax-paying Canadians with his luxury — and useless — six-day Indo-Pacific junket.

The ultra-expensive food items and his “Flow Water” are so outrageous they literally make one gag. This man never cared about the electorate that subsidizes these disgusting, wasteful ventures.

Meanwhile, thousands more Canadians are finding themselves visiting food banks just to make ends meet. I believe this man realizes that the handwriting is on the wall regarding his political shelf life, so why not just party on?

Heavens, he cannot go soon enough.

FREAKING OUT

So, I have to admit, I was one of those “freaking out about the temperature” in Ottawa last week. I talked about it every day. Sad, I know, but it’s true.

We have friends who were camping out west and I was jealous, not because they were camping out west but because they were — get this — freezing. Sent me a photo and there was snow on the ground.

I’d have given anything if one day last week I had woken up to see white stuff. Just one day.

TIME TO TEST THEM?

As I mentioned in a past epistle, you need to take a test to get a driver’s licence. In almost all the trades, you also have to take a test. Do you think it’s time for people running for elected office to take a test? After all, we entrust these same elected officials with our hard-earned money: in some cases, billions of dollars.

Take the City of Ottawa for example. What are the two most newsworthy items challenging city council? Garbage: a three-bag limit and the use of clear garbage bags is one. The second is giving huge swaths of city acreage a historical designation. This trumps (I hate that word!) homelessness, people dying from illegal drug usage, a bloated city workforce and a pile of other, I guess, non-important issues.
