FOCUS ON THE ADDICTION

Ontario’s decision to close supervised drug consumption sites, particularly those near schools, is being decried by some described as experts. But using the number of “lives saved” as their argument is taking a very narrow view of the problem, which is the consumption of toxic, addictive drugs. Not mentioned is the number of unsuccessful overdose reversals. And is a person rescued at one point who later succumbs from their addiction really a life saved?

A more meaningful number would be the number who have recovered from addiction, accompanied by a report of an overall decline in the number of addicts. Those numbers would be evidence of a successful program. If we truly want to save addicts’ lives, we must focus on helping them end their addiction, not enabling it with “safe” consumption.

Addiction is a curse that’s growing. Supervised consumption sites are an experimental approach that hasn’t stopped that growth, but is afflicting the neighbourhoods around those sites.

It’s time for our limited resources to be redirected more strongly against addiction.

HIRING ON MERIT AND MERIT ALONE

The Western Standard will provide fair treatment and advancement in the workplace based purely on merit and merit alone. No affirmative action or DEI programs exist and shall never exist under the current management of this company. Derek Fildebrandt further states, “I hire the best I can find, and if they turn out to be a diverse group, well that’s nice.”

Imagine if this was the policy of the Trudeau Liberal government; we would have a Public Service with employees that are actually qualified for the jobs they are hired to do.

U.S. corporations that have already abandoned these destructive, racist policies: Bud Light, John Deere, Harley-Davidson, Jack Daniels, Tractor Supply Co. and Lowes.

It is past time that Canadians followed suit and began to boycott companies that adhere to the DEI and ESG ideologies.
