YOU SAID IT: Gould, Anand or Joly for PM

It certainly is a dilemma for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The next general election is only, at most, a year away here in Canada. If he decides to step aside, that would leave only that one year for a new Liberal leader to campaign from coast to coast. It could be just about enough time, perhaps, but not really, as Canada is the second-biggest country in the world and lots of travelling would be needed.

Having said this, I would like a female prime minister, and there are three candidates I feel can do this: Karina Gould, Anita Anand and Mélanie Joly. All three are very well qualified and ready to put on the “prime minister” shoes, plus it would be a great change and much needed.

I hope it happens.

THAT BAD A CENTURY AGO?

First of all, yes, the climate changes because the planet Earth is naturally cyclical. When all of the climate change zealots want to get on their misinformed soap boxes and politicize every large storm as “the worst in 100 years,” I’m left wondering, if it was already this bad 100 years ago, how can you blame “man-made climate change” this time?

COMATOSE CANADIANS

OK, so just when did Canadians become so catatonically complicit? With geopolitical tensions higher than they have been in generations, and all other Western democracies beefing up defence budgets, our federal government has decided to reduce our military funding.

That we’re not collectively outraged that the Liberals, who are unaccountable for billions of dollars that have literally vanished, would sacrifice our national security and international reputation to save a few bucks, speaks far more about us, who tolerate this, than about them, who perpetrate our pathetic demise.
