HOW WILL HE DEAL WITH TRUMP?

How the heck does Justin Trudeau think he’ll have any credibility if he has to deal with Donald Trump? Trump called Trudeau two-faced after he gossiped like a high-schooler with Emmanuel Macron and Boris Johnson.

Also, what about all the times Trudeau invoked the MAGA term in a derogatory fashion? How about Chrystia Freeland with her maple-syrup MAGA insults?

I’m sure Trump has little respect for these two and considers them lightweights. Let’s just hope Trudeau and the Liberal/NDP partnership will be gone soon.

NO ONE CARES WHAT HE THINKS

Re: Slammed into boards; No. 99 can party with No. 45 and 47 any time he chooses, Nov. 9

Does anyone really care that Andrew Coyne on the CBC disagrees with Wayne Gretzky and his family attending Donald Trump’s victory party? I think not. Well, maybe one or two people, which is about the total number of CBC viewers and listeners these days.

BUILD A WALL … OF EMPTIES

What will we do when mass asylum seekers storm our borders after the Donald Trump win? I can tell you. We shall build a huge wall of empty beer bottles. (I think Molson Canadian would be most patriotic.) If every hoser would donate cases of beer empties, think of the wall we could build within two weeks! The bottle deposit will pay for the wall; am I a genius or what?

So drink up, Canada; we stand on guard with empties!

THE POLITICIAN PROBLEM

Re: A problem with all levels of government, letter to the editor, Nov. 9

Letter writer Mark Boyer of Chesterville put it beautifully, “it” being our current “coast-to-coast-to-coast” problem. That brief letter should be required reading for every elected person on Parliament Hill.

Our system works when our representatives demonstrate — i.e. show, prove — by action that they know they are in office to bring to Parliament the issues of the people who put them there. Simple enough, right? That clear mandate, I fear, is now cluttered with personal crusades, obfuscation, double talk, condescending smiles and remedial actions that seem to follow reluctantly and not arise from leadership initiative.
