JOE THE HEALER?

According to Matthew, “Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.”

According to Bill Clinton, “Joe Biden healed our sick.”

Now, there’s no way to fact-check what Matthew said, but surely to God someone can fact-check what Clinton said at the DNC Convention last week.

PROBLEMS SOLVED

The Angry Old White Guy Society, Ottawa chapter, meets once a week to discuss how to make the city of Ottawa and, by extension, the country and perhaps even the world a better place.

Just last week, we determined that by adopting American spelling we could drop the letter “u” in numerous words. The time savings were incalculable!

The chapter has also determined we’re not paying our politicians enough. To get the best people for elected office, we have to make the salaries attractive. Judging by the current crop’s performance, we’ve set the salaries too low!

To extremists on both the left and right who claim Canada is a terrible place to live, we have one thing to suggest. Yes, you are terrible. So leave if you don’t like us.

This communication is brought to you by the Angry Old White Guy Society. Solving Canada’s problems one cup at a time.

IS HE TED LASSO?

Is Democrat vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz the Ted Lasso of American politics?

Time will tell if Walz is a much-needed reminder of honesty, decorum and respect among politicians, which would be refreshing.

FOR PETA’S SAKE

Political correctness has officially run amuck. The animal rights group PETA is urging paint manufacturer Farrow & Ball to rename colours that “normalize exploiting animals.” So now it’s wrong to use an animal’s name to describe a paint colour even though remarkably few animals can read or ever purchase paint?

I guess PETA just needed another headline and the resulting free publicity. While PETA has raised some legitimate issues relating to the treatment of animals, this complaint is more likely to garner ridicule and derision.
