YOU SAID IT: Sad state of affairs

It’s a sad state of affairs.
Since Jan. 6 (2021), Donald Trump has been castigated for, if not inciting the violence that occurred in the U.S. capital, certainly doing nothing to quell or reduce it.
Now, he is unfortunately the victim of continuing violence; specifically, gun violence. Regardless of his politics and generally unsavoury character, it is not a fate he should have suffered.
Even more troubling, Trump, on being hustled out by the Secret Service, pumps his fist, shouting “keep fighting”. That’s sure to pacify and calm his most rabid (crazed?) followers from overreaction.
In response to the shootings and death of at least two people, the leaders continue to not lead. Instead, we get buried in the usual avalanche of criticisms, recriminations, platitudes and hand wringing. “We must stop the violence,” “We need to come together as a nation,” etc., etc. Notwithstanding those faux concerns, the one move that would truly make a difference will never occur. Americans will never see the folly of their “right to bear arms”. Despite all the gun deaths annually across the U.S. and this latest assassination attempt, they will do absolutely nothing, not even try to rein in the out of control proliferation of firearms.

BLAMING TRUMP?
Some anti-Trump media have the actual gall and audacity to blame Trump for some lunatic trying to shoot him. They cite what they call violent Maga rhetoric for the attempt. I suppose they would nominate Biden’s gaslighting and constant anti-Trump vilifying rhetoric for sainthood.

NAME CHANGE
The first thing the Conservative party should do if it wins the election is change the Environment and Climate Change Canada department back to plain old Environment Canada. Justin Trudeau’s attempt to remind us daily about climate change is laughable. Somebody is getting rich, but it’s not helping lower emissions.
